The problem with AI programs is that they sweep the web and utilize what they find to present the user with the outcome they are looking for. So; basically everything that AI generates is plagiarized. For example, say you want to generate some artwork inspired by an artist that you like, the AI would search the web for their artwork and then break down the images and reconstruct them into something resembling what the user asked for. This is becoming a big deal in digital media law. The Idea of generating AI art and passing it off as your own work could potentially be perceived as copyright or trademark infringement. This is especially prevalent in the music industry because someone could just make a song and generate another popular artist's voice over what they made and release it to make money using someone else's voice. Though this is more easily provable in court that someone used an artist's likeness without their permission and without compensating the artist, it's still dangerous how one could possibly get away with this. The legal system is still figuring out how to properly police the use of Artificial Intelligence in digital media. AI is a newer revelation in the world of digital media and an especially confusing topic in the world of digital media law.
